What is the “Age of Consent?”

The Age of Consent in Jamaica is 16 years old. The age of consent is the minimum age at which an individual is old enough to legally consent to participation in sexual activities. Therefore, individuals under the age of 16 cannot legally consent to sexual activity. Any person who participates in sexual activities with someone under age 16 may be prosecuted for statutory rape.
